Of course, they'll get told to shut it down; it's pathetic how they stifle even the most innocuous efforts at originality and individual creativity by the young.. no wonder they're hemorraghing young people by the bushelful!

Anyone who was a contemporary of Ray's at Bethel during the period he covers -- and I was one for at least part of the time frame he reports on -- knows that he's dead on with his recounting of events and presonal impressions of the main characters.... As he once said, "I stand behind every word" ... and so do I, at least for the part of his story I was on hand to witness.

"Jehovah Provides Direction to the Slave"
by passwordprotected infeb 15th 2009 wt pgs 24,25. .
par 4 - subheading "jehovah trusts the slave".
after quoting ps32:8 (ot)"i shall certainly make you have insight..", the paragraph claims that jehovah provides direction to the slave, stating "we can therefore have full confidence in the scriptural insight, understanding and guidance that we receive from the slave.".

I can't help but get the impression that they're turning up the volume because more and more JWs are tuning them out.

Feburary 15, 2009 Watchtower Study Edition
by bronzefist inhttp://www.sendspace.com/file/2bs4od.
once again a heavy on jesus issue, because the memorial is approaching.
the "fds" also want blondie to calm down because she's always bringing up the lack of jesus being mentioned in the majority of the issues.. the picture of the 125th gilead graduation on page 23 caught my eye thanks to jwd.

by faundy inhave posted this on the other thread but just making this one as well:
i need to let you know that dad passed away this morning at 8am.
he fought so hard but in the end they could not get his blood pressure to rise and he died of heart failure.

``Great" and "fine" are the two most overused words in the language; in the case of Dansk, they are inadequate as adjectives.

A question: Did KM actually announce "no private tapings of assembly parts?
by Room 215 ini remember sometime back that on this forum, someone commented that gb member losch gave a talk that equated going to college with committing suicide and that it had been captured on tape and circulated.
then the society ordered that no one make private recordings of assembly parts, audio or video.
was this ever a published request, say in the km?

How things have changed: Whatever elese can be said about Knorr and Franz was that they were public figures, keen to have their quotables reprinted in the press; however eccentric their doctrines, much of what they said at least in the large public venues was for mass consumption. It was a lot easier for the average JW to envisage them in the mold of latter-day figures from the book of Acts. By contrast, he current brood of WT leaders are secretive, publicity-averse, reclusive, not particularly known for spiritual insights and in all too many cases mean-spirited.

Nice going, Blondie, as usual; my wife just returned from the circuit assembly, where a speaker, while barely taking a breath, trashed: NFL football, reality shows, gym membership, game shows with big money prizes, LinkedIn and Plaxo. Re this current series of articles, just substitute ``Big Brother" for ``Jehovah" and you have a reasonable facsimile of ``1984"

NY Times: "Bad times are good for churches." Why so little JW growth?
by Seeker4 inin today's ny times there is an article on this topic, and here are two quotes:.
"bad times are good for evangelical churches.
'its a wonderful time, a great evangelistic opportunity for us,' said the rev.

Interesting, one fades from the WT and starts allowing real news sources to inform him/her -- the New York Times is one prominent example!
